Pro Bono Counsel
An attorney who represents a self-represented party for free is called a pro bono attorney. If you have a pending case, you may file an Application for the Court to Request Pro Bono Counsel. It is within the judge’s discretion, based on factors set forth in case law, to grant an application. If an application is granted, there is no guarantee that an attorney will volunteer to take the case.
